How to choose laboratory burners

• General heating: the Bunsen Burner with Stop Cock has a powder-coated mild steel base and a stopcock to control the gas; the Teclu Burner has a 16 mm chrome-plated brass tube with an air regulator, an overall height of 15 cm and a cast iron base.
• Higher, even temperatures: the Meker Burner has a 25 mm perforated plate at the top for flame stability and evenly distributed heat, with a rotatable air regulator.
• Wide or small flames: the Flame Spreader slips over a Bunsen burner tube to give a wide, flat flame for glass working; the Fishtail Burner has a non-adjustable jet; the Micro Burner is made of stainless steel.
• Gas type: the Fishtail Burner and the Teclu Burner each come with a spare gas nipple for use with LPG.
